Longer chopsticks make food taste better and reduce overeating
Using 23-centimeter chopsticks instead of standard 19-centimeter ones increases chewing frequency and slows down eating speed, leading to higher meal satisfaction with less food.
The physical dimensions of cutlery can fundamentally alter the sensory experience of a meal. While many people focus on plate size to control portions, the length of a chopstick acts as a subtle behavioral regulator. Research conducted at Mingxin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan found that increasing chopstick length from 19 centimeters to 23 centimeters significantly changes how a person interacts with their food.
