The world's oldest surviving customer complaint was written on a clay tablet
Dating back nearly 4,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia, a disgruntled merchant named Nanni etched a formal grievance into clay after receiving sub-standard copper ingots from a supplier.
In 1750 BCE, a Babylonian customer named Nanni sent a scathing letter to a merchant named Ea-nasir. Written in cuneiform script, Nanni complained about the poor quality of copper delivered and the rude treatment his messenger received while trying to finalize the deal.
