Zaha Hadid Architects rebranded as ZHA after a legal battle

The world-renowned architecture firm ended a decade-long dispute over its founder's estate, freeing it from paying millions in annual licensing fees.

Following the death of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid in 2016, her namesake firm became embroiled in a series of legal disputes over her 133 million dollar estate. The conflict pitted the firm's current leadership against Hadid's relatives and a philanthropic foundation she established before her passing. For years, the studio was required to pay 6 percent of its annual earnings to the foundation, a sum that totaled more than 27 million dollars between 2018 and 2024.
