The Azteca Stadium in Mexico City is globally recognized as the stage for Diego Maradona's legendary Hand of God goal during the 1986 World Cup. However, for the local population, the massive concrete structure held a much more somber significance just months before the tournament began. Following the devastating earthquake of 1985, which left large sections of the capital in ruins, the stadium was transformed into a critical emergency refuge.
