In 1848, the Seneca Falls Convention launched the organized women's rights movement, demanding equality and suffrage, and forever changed the course of history.
The fight for gender equality officially began in 1848 at the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York. Organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, who were excluded from an anti-slavery convention for being women, this two-day event drew around 300 attendees.
