Climate protection saves up to ten times its cost
Every euro invested in climate protection across the European Union prevents between four and ten euros in future economic damage.
The financial burden of a warming planet is already appearing in global supply chains and manufacturing costs. In Germany, the 2021 flood disaster alone caused an estimated 1.3 billion euros in damage to railway infrastructure, destroying tracks and flooding stations. Beyond sudden disasters, rising temperatures force companies to spend heavily on prevention, such as the 260 million euros the German railway invested in forest management to protect tracks from storms.
