Investigators spent over a decade searching for the Gilgo Beach killer before a discarded meal in Manhattan provided the DNA evidence needed to close the case.

For more than ten years, the identity of the person responsible for a series of deaths on Long Island remained one of New York's most haunting mysteries. Between 1993 and 2010, eight women were murdered and their remains were scattered across the remote sands of Gilgo Beach. Despite the discovery of multiple victims within meters of each other in 2010, the trail remained cold until investigators turned their attention to a local architect living in Massapequa Park.
