One car frame now supports everything from hatchbacks to hypercars
A single modular chassis can now be stretched or shrunk to build everything from a tiny city commuter to a million-dollar track monster.
The traditional method of designing a unique frame for every car model is being replaced by the 'skateboard' platform, a modular base that houses the battery and motors. In China, manufacturers are using these high-voltage architectures to share sixty percent of their components across wildly different vehicle types. This allows a humble hatchback and a high-performance hypercar to utilize the same core engineering, drastically reducing the time it takes to bring a new vehicle to market.
