Artificial intelligence can design a vaccine for every coronavirus
Researchers have successfully tested a synthetic superantigen created by AI to train the immune system against current variants and future animal-borne threats.
Traditional vaccines are usually reactive, built using a specific strain of a virus that is already circulating. Because viruses like COVID-19 and the flu mutate rapidly to hide from the immune system, these shots often become outdated by the time they are widely distributed. To break this cycle, researchers at the University of Cambridge used artificial intelligence to analyze the genetic codes of a vast array of known coronaviruses.
