Following the Six-Day War in 1967, the United Nations drafted a pivotal resolution that established the 'land for peace' formula still used in Middle East diplomacy today.

On November 22, 1967, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 242 to address the aftermath of the Arab-Israeli War. The document called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories in exchange for the right to live in peace within secure borders.
