Every February 19th, Romania honors Constantin Brâncuși, the 'patriarch of modern sculpture.' Brâncuși famously walked from Bucharest to Paris in 1904 to pursue his craft, eventually working briefly under Auguste Rodin. However, he famously left Rodin's studio, claiming that 'nothing grows in the shade of tall trees.'
