No video exists of Vaslav Nijinsky dancing
Despite being the most celebrated male dancer of the early twentieth century, the legendary performer never allowed his movements to be captured on film.
Vaslav Nijinsky is often cited as the greatest male ballet dancer of the early twentieth century, yet his legendary physical prowess exists today only in still images and written accounts. While motion picture technology was already established during his peak years with the Ballets Russes, no film of him dancing has ever been discovered. His gravity defying leaps and expressive technique are preserved instead through a photographic record that captures him in static, mid air poses.
