Wind turbines generate clean power without emissions
Wind turbines transform wind into electricity without producing greenhouse gases during operation, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels in the fight against climate change.
Wind turbines are a cornerstone of sustainable energy, converting wind's kinetic energy into electricity without emitting greenhouse gases during operation. These towering structures, with their spinning blades, produce renewable power that feeds directly into grids. Unlike fossil fuels, wind power relies on a free, abundant resource, significantly reducing carbon dioxide and other pollutants. By 2022, global wind capacity exceeded 837 gigawatts, enough to power millions of homes and cut reliance on coal and gas. This dramatically helps mitigate climate change by curbing emissions from energy production. While manufacturing involves some emissions, their lifecycle impact is far lower than coal's, at 11 grams of CO2 equivalent per kilowatt-hour versus 820 grams.
