Spinning habitats can create gravity in space

Future space habitats will spin to create artificial gravity, combating weightlessness's harmful effects and enabling long-term human exploration beyond Earth.

To combat the harmful effects of weightlessness, like muscle and bone loss, future space habitats will likely spin to create artificial gravity. This centrifugal force pushes inhabitants against the inner walls, mimicking Earth's pull. Engineers have explored this concept since Wernher von Braun's 1952 novel and NASA's 2011 Nautilus-X proposal, which envisioned a rotating module providing about 0.64 g of gravity.
