Every night, orangutans, our close relatives and the largest tree-dwelling mammals, construct fresh nests high in the canopy. Using their powerful arms, they weave branches and leaves into sturdy platforms, often 15 to 30 meters up. This elevated sleeping spot protects them from ground predators like clouded leopards and pythons, and even prevents flooding during heavy rains.
