Some umbrellas use shape memory to fold in seconds
Innovative fabric technology now allows umbrellas to self-align their pleats, solving the universal frustration of messy, time-consuming folding after a rainstorm.
The traditional struggle of manually tucking and smoothing umbrella pleats is being eliminated by materials that remember their original shape. Some modern umbrellas, such as those developed by the Japanese brand Moonbat, utilize a specialized PET resin sheet bonded to the inner fabric. This creates a permanent structural memory that guides the material back into its factory-folded state the moment the frame is closed.
