Vozinha is the oldest player to debut at the World Cup
At 40 years and 12 days old, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper broke a record for longevity while securing a historic shutout against Spain.
Josimar Dias, known to fans as Vozinha, spent over a decade chasing a dream that most professional athletes abandon by their thirties. He did not begin his professional career until the age of 25, largely because scouts in his home archipelago of Cape Verde dismissed him for being too short. Despite these early rejections, he persisted through leagues in Portugal, Angola, and Cyprus to eventually reach the world stage.
