The world's first inflatable concert hall was made of purple skin
Designed to travel through regions devastated by a major earthquake, this massive orb could be fully inflated in just two hours.
In 2013, sculptor Anish Kapoor and architect Arata Isozaki collaborated to create Ark Nova, the world's first inflatable concert hall. The structure was designed as a mobile venue to bring music and performance to the regions of Japan that had been devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. When fully expanded, the hall resembled a giant, translucent purple bean that stood high enough to accommodate an audience of 500 people.
