Ecuador slashed beer taxes by twenty percent for the World Cup

To celebrate the national team's fifth tournament appearance, the government eliminated excise taxes on moderate beverage consumption to lower prices for fans.

During the 2026 World Cup, Ecuador implemented a temporary economic shift by removing the special consumption tax on beer and other beverages. President Daniel Noboa announced the measure during a road construction project, stating that the tax break would reduce the retail price of beer by more than 20 percent for the duration of the tournament.
