Cafu is the only player to appear in three World Cup finals

While many legendary players have lifted the World Cup trophy, the Brazilian defender Cafu holds a unique record in the history of the tournament. He is the only person to have played in three separate World Cup finals. His streak began in 1994 when he entered the match as a substitute during Brazil's penalty shootout victory over Italy. He returned to the final stage four years later in a losing effort against France, before finally captaining his nation to a title in 2002.
