China once voted to sanction North Korea six times

Between 2016 and 2017, Beijing joined the international community in imposing severe economic pressure on its neighbor, proving it holds the power to cripple the regime.

While China is often viewed as North Korea's primary benefactor, it has previously used its seat on the United Nations Security Council to vote for six separate rounds of extreme economic sanctions.
