Solar farms require hundreds of times more land than coal
Generating the same amount of electricity from the sun as from fossil fuels requires vast tracts of land, often displacing vital forests and food crops.
A standard 100 megawatt solar project requires approximately 417 acres of land to operate. This footprint is roughly equivalent to 316 American football fields, a spatial demand far greater than that of coal or natural gas plants, which can produce massive amounts of electricity from relatively small areas.
