China gifted North Korea a twenty-four million dollar glass factory

When foreign leaders visit North Korea, the itinerary usually follows a rigid script of symbolic monuments and mass performances. However, one of the most practical landmarks on the list is the Daean Friendship Glass Factory. Completed in 2005, the facility was a direct gift from the Chinese government, which invested 24 million dollars to build the plant before handing it over to North Korea entirely free of charge.
