The image of a snake eating its tail symbolizes the cyclical nature of time

The Ouroboros, an image of a serpent consuming its own tail, is an ancient symbol representing the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth across multiple civilizations.

First appearing in the Enigmatic Book of the Netherworld in the tomb of Tutankhamun around 1300 BCE, the Ouroboros depicted the union of the sun god Ra and the lord of the dead, Osiris. The symbol traveled from Egypt into Greek magical traditions and later into Norse myth as Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent who encircles the entire world. In the Vedic 'Aitareya Brahmana', the image is used to describe the self-consuming nature of time and ritual.
