Rising rates of obesity and declining academic scores have created a significant national security challenge, leaving seven out of ten young Americans unqualified for military service today.
Recent Pentagon data reveals that approximately 70 percent of young adults aged 18 to 25 are ineligible for military service. The primary driver is a sharp increase in obesity, with nearly 40 percent of the demographic possessing a body mass index over 30. This represents a dramatic shift from 1960, when the disqualification rate for weight was only 13 percent.
