A single forest in Brazil contains one out of every fourteen plant species
Brazil's Atlantic Forest is a global biodiversity powerhouse, squeezing one out of every fourteen plant species on Earth into a fragmented landscape that covers just a fraction of the planet's forests.
The Atlantic Forest biome is home to an incredible 20,000 plant species, many of which exist nowhere else. Despite occupying just 0.5% of the world's forest area, it sustains 40% of Brazil's tree species and 60% of its threatened vertebrates. This ancient ecosystem has evolved over 100 million years, creating unique microclimates that support 8,000 different species of bees.
