Emotional contagion reveals how moods rapidly spread through groups via unconscious mimicry, turning one person's feelings into a shared experience, even online.

Ever notice how a bad mood can spread through a room? That's emotional contagion, where one person's feelings subtly influence those around them. It happens largely unconsciously, as we automatically mimic facial expressions, body language, and vocal tones. Psychologists Elaine Hatfield, John Cacioppo, and Richard Rapson first systematically studied this in 1993.
