Seven years after gaining independence, Pakistan finally heard its official national anthem broadcast across the airwaves for the first time on a historic day in 1954.

On August 13, 1954, Radio Pakistan broadcast the 'Qaumi Tarana', the nation's first official anthem. While the music had been composed years earlier by Ahmed Ghulamali Chagla, the Persian-influenced lyrics by Hafeez Jullundhri were only recently finalized to capture the spirit of the young nation.
