In 1964, the Polish magazine 'Kobieta i Życie' proposed the idea of celebrating grandmothers, but it wasn't long before grandfathers were included in the festivities. By the late 1970s, January 22nd became officially recognized as Grandfather's Day in Poland, following Grandmothers' Day on the 21st.
