Artificial intelligence can now render video games using learned patterns instead of polygons

Artificial intelligence is moving beyond simple image enhancement, using deep learning to predict and generate complex video game frames that bypass the traditional, resource-heavy process of rendering polygons.

Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is transforming how graphics are generated by using neural networks to upscale low-resolution images. By rendering a game at 1080p and using AI to output 4K visuals, systems can achieve up to four times the performance of traditional methods.
