Reindeer eyes dramatically shift from gold to blue in winter, enhancing their ability to navigate the Arctic's dim twilight and spot food under snow.

Reindeer have an amazing trick for surviving dark Arctic winters: their eyes change color! In summer, they're golden-brown, but come winter, they shift to a striking blue. This transformation, observed by University College London researchers in 2011, makes their eyes four times more sensitive to ultraviolet light.
