Caterpillars have more muscles than the entire human body

While a human body relies on roughly 650 skeletal muscles to move, a single caterpillar can possess over 4,000 distinct muscles working in harmony to power its tiny frame.

A caterpillar is a marvel of biological engineering, containing roughly six times the number of muscles found in a human. Most of these muscles are concentrated in the head, but the rest of the body uses a complex hydraulic system to crawl and climb. This intricate muscular network allows them to move their soft bodies with incredible flexibility and precision.
