Invisible man-made substances known as forever chemicals are now cycling through the Earth's atmosphere and falling back to the surface in rainwater, reaching even the most remote corners of the globe.

Recent environmental studies reveal that PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, have spread to every corner of the Earth through the water cycle. These synthetic compounds are used in everything from non-stick pans to firefighting foams and do not break down naturally in the environment.
