Massive data centers supporting artificial intelligence and cloud computing now consume such immense amounts of electricity that they are forcing entire countries to redesign their national power infrastructure.
A single hyperscale data center can consume as much electricity as 80,000 households. In Ireland, these facilities already account for approximately 21 percent of the nation's total electricity use, a figure projected to rise significantly by 2030.
