Astronomers found an Earth-like world that might be colder than Mars

The discovery of Gliese 12 b reveals a temperate, Earth-sized planet located just 40 light-years away that may possess an unexpectedly chilly climate compared to our own neighbor Mars.

Located in the constellation Pisces, Gliese 12 b is an intriguing exoplanet that mirrors Earth in size and composition. While it orbits its dim red dwarf star every 12.8 days, it receives far less energy than Earth, leading scientists to estimate its surface temperature at a frigid negative 103 degrees Fahrenheit.
