Your emotions can spread like a virus

Emotional contagion is the fascinating process where moods and feelings spread rapidly and often unconsciously between people in social groups, influencing collective behavior.

Emotional contagion is the automatic way we catch feelings from others, often without realizing it. We subtly mimic facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language, causing moods to synchronize. Psychologists Elaine Hatfield and colleagues first systematically studied this phenomenon in the early 1990s.
