A dinosaur-sized asteroid safely flew past Earth
An asteroid the size of a Quetzalcoatlus, a giant prehistoric pterosaur, recently passed Earth safely, showcasing our planet's defense monitoring capabilities.
Astronomers recently tracked an asteroid, about 10 meters wide – roughly the wingspan of a Quetzalcoatlus, Earth's largest flying creature from the Late Cretaceous period. This space rock made a close approach to Earth, passing 1.5 million kilometers away, well beyond the Moon, with no risk of impact.
