The world's first credit card transaction happened on February 28, 1950, at Major's Cabin Grill in New York City. Businessman Frank McNamara, after an embarrassing wallet-less dinner, created the Diners Club card with Ralph Schneider. This simple cardboard charge plate allowed users to sign for meals and settle bills monthly.
