New Zealand's kiwi birds are famous for laying the largest eggs relative to their body size of any bird. A female kiwi, weighing only 1.3 to 3.3 kilograms, produces a single egg that can be up to 13 centimeters long and weigh around 400 to 450 grams. This massive egg makes up roughly 20 percent of the mother's body mass, far surpassing even an ostrich's egg proportionally.
