A single chemical plant uses as much water as 300,000 people

In the coastal city of Corpus Christi, Texas, the demand for water has reached a critical tipping point. While more than 300,000 residents rely on the local supply for their daily lives, a single plastics chemical complex built in 2022 consumes just as much water for its cooling processes as the entire residential population combined. This massive industrial draw has left the city with a precariously thin margin of safety, often hovering around just one year of water in storage.
