By combining laser pulses with ultrasonic waves, medical imagers can now capture detailed panoramic views of the body's vascular network in a single scan.
Traditional medical imaging often struggles to capture the full complexity of the human vascular system. To view a wide area like a hand or foot, doctors typically have to stitch together multiple small images, a process that frequently results in distorted or mismatched visuals. A new approach solves this by using photoacoustic imaging, which essentially listens to the sounds that blood vessels make when they are touched by light.
