For sixteen years, the record for the oldest manager in World Cup history was held by Otto Rehhagel, who led the Greek national team in 2010 at the age of 71. That long standing benchmark was finally surpassed during the 2026 tournament, but the new record holder barely had time to celebrate before his title was taken by a colleague.
