Mexico has played in more World Cup opening matches than any other nation, yet they spent nearly a century unable to win one. Their streak of futility began at the very first tournament in 1930 with a 4:1 loss to France, followed by a string of defeats and draws against Brazil, Sweden, the Soviet Union, and South Africa.
