SpaceX plans to launch orbital AI data centers
By 2027, the company aims to begin testing satellites that function as space-based servers powered by the sun and cooled by the vacuum of orbit.
SpaceX is shifting its focus from simple communication satellites to orbital computing. The company has filed plans to deploy a network of specialized satellites, known as AI1, designed to function as high-performance data centers in low Earth orbit. These units are intended to handle massive artificial intelligence workloads far above the planet surface.
