Glass walls turn tennis into a game of billiards

Players on these enclosed courts often ignore the ball as it zooms past them, knowing it will bounce off the back glass and return to their racket.

In 1969, Mexican businessman Enrique Corcuera accidentally invented a new sport because his home lacked the space for a full-sized tennis court. By surrounding a smaller plot with walls, he created padel, a game where the geometry of the court is as important as the swing of the arm.
