A routine flight from Anapa to Saint Petersburg in 2006 ended in catastrophe when a severe storm over eastern Ukraine caused a Russian airliner to fall from the sky, claiming 170 lives.
Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise Flight 612 was cruising over eastern Ukraine in August 2006 when it encountered a massive thunderstorm. While attempting to climb over the weather, the Tupolev Tu-154 entered a high-altitude stall and a flat spin, a terrifying aerodynamic state from which the pilots could not recover.
