In a frantic retreat during the 1513 Battle of Guinegate, French cavalry abandoned the fight so quickly that the English mocked them by renaming the encounter after the equipment they used to flee.
During the War of the League of Cambrai in 1513, English forces under King Henry VIII and Imperial troops surprised the French cavalry near Guinegate. Instead of engaging in a traditional heavy clash, the French knights realized they were outmaneuvered and fled the field at full gallop.
