A high-stakes military operation in Mosul brought a violent end to the influence of Uday and Qusay Hussein, the much-feared sons of the deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
On July 22, 2003, elite U.S. forces from the 101st Airborne Division tracked Uday and Qusay Hussein to a fortified villa in Mosul. After a fierce four-hour firefight involving anti-tank missiles and heavy weaponry, both brothers were killed.
