A bloody banquet in 1510 sparked a daring rebellion when a Ming prince assassinated several high-ranking officials to challenge the corruption of a powerful imperial eunuch.

The Prince of Anhua rebellion began with a lethal dinner party in May 1510. Zhu Zhifan, a member of the imperial family, invited local officials to a banquet only to have them murdered where they sat. His goal was to overthrow Liu Jin, a powerful eunuch who effectively controlled the Zhengde Emperor.
