General Matthew Ridgway launched Operation Ripper in 1951, a massive strategic offensive designed to liberate Seoul and push communist forces back beyond the 38th parallel during the height of the Korean War.

In March 1951, United Nations forces initiated Operation Ripper to break the stalemate on the Korean Peninsula. Led by General Matthew Ridgway, the operation utilized heavy artillery and air power to meticulously clear Chinese and North Korean troops from the rugged terrain surrounding the South Korean capital.
